British Columbia And COVID Restrictions – Spring 2022

With the world split between ongoing restrictions and loosened, if not completely stripped protocols, booking vacations in any part of the world can be tricky to navigate. British Columbia, one of Canada’s most popular tourist destinations, is not immune to these uncertainties. As it stands however, there are clear and specific instructions for locals and tourists alike looking to enjoy the many exciting opportunities available in the area. Whether you’re staying at hotels near Granville Island or Iron Bay, the province-wide restrictions of British Columbia will help you to plan, enjoy and most importantly, stay safe during your trip.

This blog will outline the major changes in COVID 19 policy for the spring season. With many people booking stays at Vancouver hotels with two bedroom suites for the coming months, this blog will help you make sure that you have everything in order regarding COVID documents and the restrictions on attractions across the province.

British Columbia And International Travel

British Columbia is currently open for tourism from any country on their travel list. This is providing that you are fully vaccinated with one of the approved COVID 19 vaccinations. This rule applies to anyone over the age of 12 years and 4 months. You must have a federal proof of vaccination in the form of a document, either digital or physical, that shows you have been vaccinated to the full extent necessary. Your passport name must match that on the vaccination record.

A federal proof of vaccination is free for visitors and you can download it from the health gateway website. These documents will be asked of you either by your travel agent, at the gate for your flight, cruise or at the border, or at security control. This document allows you to travel not only British Columbia, but across the other regions of Canada as well.

Regulations For The Unvaccinated

As it stands, tourism and personal visits to Canada are not permitted for those who are unvaccinated. There are a range of exceptions, though. These include funeral and asylum seeking visits, if you’re passing through the country to another, or if you’re visiting Canada as an essential worker. You may also enter Canada if you are exempt from the vaccination due to health reasons. If you have booked a stay at L’Hermitage Hotel in Vancouver and have not been vaccinated, find out if you are permitted entry into the country here.

Restaurants, Bars And Entertainment Venues

As it stands, visitors to Vancouver will not be subject to restrictions within venues, bars or restaurants. That being said, venues reserve the right to ask for vaccination proof. There are also no restrictions on personal gatherings, sports facilities or informal events.

Advised Precautions

Though there are no precautions under law, guests of accommodation near Stanley Park Vancouver should exercise caution when visiting crowded areas. Vaccination does not necessarily protect from infection, it merely lessens the severity of coronavirus symptoms. If you are infected during your visit and are fully vaccinated, you will still need to quarantine for 5 days. If you are unvaccinated, you will need to quarantine for 10 days or until symptoms ease. To avoid the need for self-isolation, you can wear face masks in busy areas and sanitize your hands between visits to public spaces.
